Striking Verizon workers plan to return to work on Monday evening, even though their contract dispute remains unresolved. About 45 000 workers have been striking to keep their benefits such as health care and pension, that Verizon wanted to renegociate.
I took those picture a few days after the beginning of the strike, which started on August 7th.
At the headquarters, just a block away from Ground Zero in Manhattan, workers boo and yell at anyone going inside the building. Insults, screams, water throwing... anything goes. As long as the strikers stay behind the barrier, a couple of policemen present tell me.
